Dr Nicole Lederle is the evaluator at the West Forum and took up post from Ian Gillan on 10th August 2009. Nicole is responsible for evaluating the West Forum’s work with young people and adult learners and communities. Activities have involved designing questionnaire surveys to record key education and personal data of our pupils and adult learners when they register with our activities. RSAMD Entry to the Creative Industries
Entry to the Creative Industries (Production and
Performance) is a collaboration between FOCUS West and the Royal
Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. It works with S5 and S6 pupils
who have demonstrated or expressed an interest in the performing or
production arts.

Top-Up Programme Update
Highlights from Top-Up
- The Top-Up Programme tutor recruitment took place in September/October 2009. 295 applications were received, 85 people were interviewed and 30 new tutors were appointed. 42 tutors continued from 2008-09.
- Tutor training was conducted between Monday 26 October and Wednesday 4 November. New tutors received 15 hours of training and continuing tutors attended for 9 hours. A further 4 hours of training will be delivered in January/February 2010.

SWAPWest Case Studies - Access to Primary Education
Access to Primary Education - John Wheatley College

Jacqueline, Lyndsey and June completed the Access to Humanities programme at John Wheatley College in 2004 and subsequently progressed to the degree programme, BEd in Primary Teaching, at the University of Glasgow.
Not only did they complete the programme with Honours, but each achieved a First Class degree. June was awarded the Faculty Prize.
The three graduates are now teaching in primary schools in the Greater Glasgow area.

The Access to Nursing students are celebrating their achievement at the annual awards ceremony in Glasgow with tutor Janet Hill.
